RUSSELL, ONTARIO

SEPTEMBER 6th, 2008

Finally....a race without any rain in site.  After a run of 6 races that have been proceeded by major rainfalls, Russell provides a break for both drivers and spectators.

The driver turn out was up yet again, helped slightly by double entries from both Alain Brennan and David Gravelle.  Both are in contention for the Pro Series points title for 2008, and neither is willing to let the other get too far ahead.

The Pro heats were won by both David and Alain, with Gaetan Faubert and Natalie White scoring runner up positions.

The feature event came down to Faubert, Brennan and Gravelle, and it didn't take long to figure out that Faubert was the odd man out.

As per usually, Faubert fearlessly let loose with his V6, taking shots at both Brennan and Gravelle from the full length of the track.

Despite his best efforts it looked as though Gravelle had the race won, when one mis-step created a change in the outcome of the race.

Gravelle (unintentionally) hammered Faubert in the driver's door, resulting in an immediate disqualification.  The hit unfortunately left Faubert unable to continue, as the inner skin of the door was pushed into the driver's rib area, creating a major risk for injury.

This left Alain Brennan in the 1st place position, and a clear path to the Land of Lakes Championship.

All 3 drivers accepted the outcome without hard feelings.

The 4 Cylinder event was another story altogether.  The 4 Cylinder points chase has become a nasty fight between Redneck Racing and former teammate Matt Caswell.  Caswell currently holds the top spot, with Redneck drivers following close behind in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

At the drop of the checkered flag it was perfectly clear that team Redneck has one thing on their minds; Get Caswell.

In the end the strategy met with mixed results, as none of the top 4 drivers finished in the points positions.

The purse, hardware, and bragging rights went to Jonathan Chretien (1st), Jean Prevost (2nd) Pierre Luc-Prevost (3rd).

Redneck Racing did take the honours in the figure 8 race, when driver Trevor Egeberg finished in 1st place.
